We were built to do one thing well: step into UK SMEs and mid-market businesses with senior people, install real operating discipline, and leave the cadence in the hands of your team.
RCT Consultancy was set up because a particular kind of UK business kept asking for help that the existing market wasn’t set up to give them. The shape is familiar: an owner or founder-CEO who has built something real, a leadership team that is capable but stretched, and an operating model that worked at £5m or £20m and now creaks at the next size up.
What these businesses don’t need is another strategy deck, a Big Four engagement they can’t afford or stomach, or a partner who pitches and disappears. What they need is a senior pair of hands on the ground, alongside their leadership team, doing the practical work of installing operating discipline — and then leaving.
Every engagement is delivered by senior consultants. The person who scopes the work is the person on every call, every on-site day, every review. There is no associate behind the partner, no offshore back office, no junior team running spreadsheets you never see.
This is the simplest commitment we make. It rules a lot of work out, deliberately. It rules in the work where senior judgement and time on the ground are actually the things that make the difference.
RCT Consultancy has no physical office. We are fully remote with on-site days built into every engagement — usually one or two days a month in the client’s office, more when the work demands it. Travel across the United Kingdom is included in the engagement fee. The model lets us keep overhead low, fees honest, and focus on the work itself rather than the trappings around it.
For most engagements, the rhythm is the same: a weekly remote cadence with the leadership team, monthly on-site days for the work that has to happen in the room, and a quarterly review that resets the brief if it needs resetting.
Three principles shape every engagement, regardless of brief.
Some of what RCT isn’t is just as important as what it is.
Our four-stage model — Diagnose, Frame, Install, Hand Back — is built so that by the end your team owns the outcome and the operating habit. The aim is to make ourselves unnecessary as quickly as the work allows, then stay on call for the moments when senior advisory genuinely helps.
RCT Consultancy serves clients across the United Kingdom — from London and the South East through the Midlands, the North West, Yorkshire, the South West, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The default is remote with on-site days built in. Sectors range across professional services, technology and software, manufacturing, healthcare services, B2B services and owner-led trading businesses; what unites them is the shape of the management challenge, not the vertical.
Most of our engagements arrive by referral and remain quiet by design. We don’t publish client work, post case studies that name clients, or share commercial detail without explicit permission. If you’re considering working with us and want to speak to a previous client, we’ll arrange it directly — and only with the client’s agreement.
